Sustainability by the fjord
At Støtvig Hotel, we work continuously to make conscious and responsible choices in operations, kitchens, personnel policy and purchasing. This means, among other things, using short-distance raw materials where possible, reducing food waste, minimizing the use of plastic and chemicals, and using geothermal heat as an energy source. We clean the beach daily during the summer months and take responsibility for the local area we are a part of.
For us, sustainability is also about people. We work for equal working conditions, full equality regardless of gender and nationality, and facilitate professional development and further education among our employees. We make demands on suppliers and clearly distance ourselves from child labour and unethical production conditions.
Sustainability for us is also about using the resources around us wisely and respectfully, taking care of both the environment and the small, good moments that make a stay meaningful. We have a unique starting point: a short distance to raw materials, living nature and the passage of the seasons. It gives us the opportunity to work with sustainable concepts that benefit both the guests, the local environment and those who live here all year round.
This is all about one thing: taking care of the resources we are lucky enough to have around us, and at the same time giving our guests experiences that feel real, close and sustainable.
Because when you live by the fjord, nature is not a prop – it is part of everyday life, food and experience.
We know that sustainability work is never finished. Therefore, we are open to input and ideas on how we can improve - and welcome suggestions from both guests, partners and employees.
